Q - Assume that a man and woman each weighing the same consume an identical amount of alcohol. Who will have the highest BAC?
A - Women generally have a much higher fat content in their bodies than men. There is also scientific data which indicates the metabolic rate, absorption, distribution and elimination of alcohol, is different for women than for men. This explains why women will achieve a higher BAC on what would appear to be much less alcohol than consumed by a man of approximately the same weight.
Q - Three men of equal size and weight start drinking six beers. One starts at 8pm, the next starts at 9pm, and the last at 10pm. They all finish their last drink at 11:15. How do their BACs differ?
A - Amazingly, they will all have about the same BAC at the time they stop drinking, and their blood alcohol levels will continue to rise at different rates over the next hour. Find out why!
